Route 234 Closed In Stonington After Car Slams Into Pole

DOT officials say it could take four hours to clear up, alternate routes recommended.

STONINGTON — State Route 234 is closed in both directions at North Main Street late Tuesday afternoon due to a car slamming into a utility pole.

According to the state Department of Transportation, the accident happened at about 4:24 p.m.

As a result, the state is advising motorists avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel.
