Satellite Tracks Great White Shark Off CT Coast in Long Island Sound

Residents of Connecticut may need a bigger boat.

MYSTIC, CT -- Residents of Connecticut may need a bigger boat as an infamous type of shark could be popping up near their quiet beach communities.

A Great White shark had recently been tracked off the coast of Connecticut by satellite, News 8 reported. A young Great White named Montauk was tagged on Aug. 18 by Ocearch, and had appeared near Guilford last month.

An employee with the Mystic Aquarium said that this type of shark is not as uncommon as people might be led to think, according to News 8. San and Nurse sharks tend to grow bigger than a Great White, and are more likely to be seen in long Island Sound.
