Scott Bates Considers Running for Governor

STONINGTON, CT - Scott Bates of Stonington is considering running for governor of Connecticut, the New London Day reported. His decision whether or not to actually run will involve a lot of thought however.

Bates is a Democrat who currently serves as the deputy secretary of the state, according to the New London Day. He also currently chairs the Connecticut Port Authority. (To sign up for Stonington/Mystic breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Bates confirmed Thursday he has been approached by a group of municipal leaders asking him to run for the position, the New London Day reported. If elected, he would become the first southeastern Connecticut resident to serve as governor in over a century.
