Stonington Native Decides Not To Run For Governor

Democrat Scott Bates of Stonington has announced he will not to run for governor.

STONINGTON, CT - Democrat and Stonington native Scott Bates has announced he will not to run for governor, the New London Day reported. Bates currently chairs the Connecticut Port Authority and serves as deputy secretary of the state.

Bates said he will not seek his party’s nomination to run for governor next year, according to the New London Day reported. Bates said he enjoyed traveling around the state over the past six weeks but did not want to be on the road every day for the next 18 months, the New London Day reported. He said he would rather make a difference in the jobs where he knows he can make a difference.
