State Approves $5 Million In Funding For Mystic Aquarium

The State has approved $5 million in funding for a new Mystic Aquarium conservation, education and research center.

MYSTIC, CT - The State has approved $5 million in funding for the Mystic Aquarium, the New London Day reported. The money will go towards a new 18,000-square-foot conservation, education and research center.

Funding was approved by the state Bonding Commission last week, according to the New London Day. When announcing the approval, State officials referred to the aquarium as one of Connecticut’s top destination showpieces. (To sign up for Stonington/Mystic breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

The project is designed to improve animal research and education areas, the New London Day reported. The building will also have public exhibits and viewing areas.
