The last phone contact with Allen was on Dec. 26 at approximately 1:50 p.m. when he said he had crashed and hurt his leg, state police said.

Cell phone pings have been conducted in an attempt to locate Allen, however, the ping of the cell phone indicates that the phone is turned off or the battery died and an accurate location cannot be obtained, state police said.

Connecticut State Police are actively searching the area and have deployed the State Police helicopter as well as K-9 teams to include search and rescue dogs. Assisting in the search efforts are the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Plainfield Police Department, Coventry (RI) Police Department and area Fire Departments.

Connecticut State Police ask that anyone with information please contact Troop D at 860-779-4900. Police ask that people refrain from conducting independent searches of the area as all search efforts are being coordinated from the Command Post at the Sterling Fire Department located at 225 Main St. in Sterling.
