Decision to Drop "Animal Farm" from Stonington School's Reading List Receives Backlash from Parents, Teachers
Many parents think the book is important for kids to read, especially in light of the current political climate.

STONINGTON, CT - A recent decision to remove the George Orwell novel “Animal Farm” from a Stonington school’s reading list has seen substantial backlash, The Day reported.
The decision was recently made to remove the famous book from the reading list used by longtime Mystic Middle School eighth-grade teacher Ed Goldberg, according to The Day. The teacher told parents in an email that he was not given a good reason why the book was dropped.
Many concerned parents have made the case that the book is important for kids to read, especially in light of the current political climate, The Day reported. The matter will be discussed at the Board of Education meeting Thursday night.
