Stonington Considers Filling Vacant Human Services Director Post

The Stonington Board of Selectmen is considering officially naming Leanne Theodore as the town’s director of Human Services, a position she has essentially held for years but without the title.

Theodore is the town’s Youth and Family Services administrator, but she assumed the responsibilities of the human services role after Beth Stewart left the post in 2012, reports The Day.

“She was assigned a lot of the responsibilities but had neither the title nor the pay,” First Selectman Rob Simmons told The Day. “I felt it was terribly wrong. She’s done a fabulous job at a time when the issues facing human services have increased.”

The selectmen will consider filling the post officially when the group meets Wednesday.
