Stonington Crew Wins at Home, Builds Momentum to State Championships
Stonington Crew boys and girls had strong performances in their last home meet of the 2017 spring season.
MYSTIC, CT ā In their last home meet of the 2017 spring season, Stonington Crew boys and girls had strong performancesāwinning six of eight varsity and novice events. Visiting Connecticut Public Schools Rowing Association (CPSRA) teams from East Lyme and Guilford won the Girls Varsity 1 and Varsity 2 events, respectively.
āAt the end of the season, itās good to be able to test yourself against schools in your league,ā Head Coach and Boys Varsity Coach Tyler Page said in a release. āOur results continue to be encouraging, heading into State Championships that are just two weeks away.ā

āConditions became progressively more challenging today,ā Varsity Girls Head Coach Maria Brown said in a release. āSome of our less experienced crews faced tough conditions. But, they werenāt rattled and rowed well together.ā
Stonington won the Boys Varsity 1, 2, 3 and Novice races. The Girls Varsity 3 and Novice boats won their events.

The team races Middletown and EO Smith next week, before the CPSRA Championship Regatta on May 17 at Lake Waramaug State Park in New Preston.
