Stonington Delays Students Return To Classrooms

STONINGTON, CT — Stonington Public Schools will be closed district wide on Monday, Jan. 3 and Tuesday, Jan. 4 will be a professional development day, officials announced on their website.

March 9, which was originally scheduled to be a professional development day, will now be a regularly scheduled school day, officials said. Students are scheduled to return to the classroom on Wednesday, Jan. 5.

NBC CT reports that increasing COVID-19 cases has caused a "significant shortage of transportation drivers, staff, classroom teachers and substitute teachers."
