Stonington To Discuss Possible Ban On Using Snowblowers At Night

STONINGTON, CT — The Board of Selectmen will discuss a possible ban on using snowblowers late at night during their meeting Wednesday, the New London Day reported. Officials said they will review a request at the meeting and either make a decision or table it for another meeting.

According to the the Day, the request to amend the town's nuisance ordinance came from a resident who is upset with a neighbor who allegedly used a snowblower at 2 a.m. Should the board decide to implement it, the use of snowblowers would likely be banned between about 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

First Selectman Rob Simmons said some residents use snowblowers late at night to clear their driveways and sidewalks as a safety measure, according to the Day.
