Stonington Getting Rat Issues In Pawcatuck Under Control

Stonington officials said they are getting Pawcatuck's rat issues under control.

STONINGTON, CT - Stonington officials said they are getting Pawcatuck's rat issues under control, the New London Day reported. On the heels of this, residents are asked to take further steps to ensure these numbers continue to lessen.

Ledge Light Health District officials reported Wednesday to the Board of Selectmen there have only been three new reports of rats over the past few weeks, according to the New London Day. Residents have been helpful in this initiative by removing trash and other items that attract rodents. Residents with gardens are urged to remove ripening produce that attract rats, such as tomatoes, according to the New London Day. The board had previously asked the Planning and Zoning Commission to consider tightening its regulations on residents keeping chickens to prevent the spread of rats.
