Stonington Glass Artist Jeffrey P'an To Exhibit At The American Fine Craft Show At Brooklyn Museum

Glass artist Jeffrey P'an to sell his work at the American Fine Craft Show at Brooklyn Museum November 22-23

Jeffrey P’an, a master glass artist whose studio is in Stonington, was selected to exhibit and sell his work at the second annual American Fine Craft Show at Brooklyn Museum November 22-23.

On his website, studiojeffreypan.com, he wrote: “The company was founded in 1994 as prescient studios by American glass artist Jeffrey P’an after his return from study in Murano, Italy. At that time he produced glassware and small decorative items with a small team of apprentices. Today Studio Jeffrey P’an is the design house, artist’s workshop and factory in the tradition of the factories in Murano. In addition to our primary focus, which is Jeffrey’s one-of-a-kind sculptural work, all manner of glass-related work is performed from Jewelry making, cut crystal, glassware and repairs of historical pieces by an expanded team of apprentices and specialists in all aspects of the fabrication and restoration we perform. The studio is open to the public and we welcome visitors to view the glassmaking and browse our large showroom where examples of all the work we do are on display.”

The craft show is part of the Art of American Craft series founded and directed by Joanna and Richard Rothbard. “After last year’s success in Brooklyn, we developed the series to demonstrate the highest level of crafts, featuring works by master craftsman who produce museum-quality work,” said Richard Rothbard. “A museum venue sends the message that visitors should anticipate seeing outstanding examples of jewelry, ceramics, decorative and wearable fiber, furniture, glass, and leather apparel handmade by the exhibitors we select.”

Rothbard added “How many museum visitors are aware that much of what they see in exhibitions found its origins in the work of artisanal craftsmen--designers of ceramics, jewelry, furniture, glass and fashion?”

That the work is well displayed is as important to the Rothbards as it is to designers of museum exhibitions. Experts at merchandising--they also own American Craftsman Galleries in Manhattan and Stockbridge, Mass.—they are mindful of presentation when they select artisans. In addition, they have fine-tuned the curation process over 30+ years, visiting thousands of art and craft shows in that period.
