Stonington Holiday Stroll, Tree Lighting Event Coming Up

STONINGTON, CT – The Stonington Village Improvement Association (SVIA) is pleased to announce that its tree lighting ceremony and Holiday Stroll will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 5:30 pm in Wadawanuck Square. With generous help from the Stonington Borough Merchants Association and the Stonington Free Library, this event has become an annual holiday tradition.

The event will include a community carol sing, including carolers from the Stonington Middle School, and a special visit by Santa. Zest Bakery will generously provide hot chocolate and cookies for attendees. Immediately following the lighting of the tree will be the Holiday Stroll down Water Street, where local merchants keep their shops open late to welcome visitors. Merchants will compete for the most festive window display in “Borough A-Glow,” sponsored by the Stonington Borough Merchants Association. In addition, two food trucks (Mike Dudes Donuts and Angie’s BBQ) will be available for purchasing food and drink for the Stroll.

“This wonderful tradition in Stonington Borough is a highlight of the holiday season,” said Shaun Mastroianni, president of the SVIA. “We look forward to welcoming everyone for caroling, lighting the tree, and strolling down Water Street.”
