Stonington Investigating Building Officials' Conduct: Report

Stonington officials said they are investigating allegations concerning the conduct of two town building officials.

STONINGTON, CT — Stonington officials said they are investigating allegations concerning the conduct of two town building officials, the New London Day reported.

According to the Day, First Selectman Rob Simmons said Tuesday an administrative investigation had been launched following complaints that Building Official Lawrence Stannard and his assistant, Robert Chevalier, had allegedly mistreated property owners seeking permits.

Officials said the investigation will be headed by town Labor Attorney Meredith Diette, and the probe is expected to be completed in about a week, according to the Day.
