Stonington Kills Clock With Spread Offense
Bears Cling To Two-Point Lead Late In 34-30 Win Over Ledyard
Stonington High girls' basketball coach Paulla Solar isn't a big fan of a spread offense to kill the clock late in games. But she used the spread effectively to wind down a minute of time in the Bears' 34-30 win over Ledyard Saturday for her 300th career victory.
On the accompanying video, you can hear Solar and her assistant coaches calling out instructions, "No" to not shoot and "Up" to pass up to the front of the perimeter.
Ledyard fouled Stonington with a minute left, and the Bears missed a front end of a one-and-one free throw. Ledyard tied the score with 45 seconds left, but Stonington hit four free throws to seal the win.
