Stonington Lands $770K State Grant For Bridge Repair

STONINGTON, CT — The state Department of Transportation is issuing a $770,000 grant to the Town of Stonington.

The grant is to replace the bridge at Collins Road over Cattle Path.

"This investment will help improve safety, strengthen local infrastructure, and ensure this important roadway serves our community for years to come," Sen. Heather Somers said in a Facebook post.

The funds comes as part of the State Local Bridge Program, which provides cost-matching grants to municipalities for the reconstruction of bridges.

The state recently announced a total of $16.8 million in such grants to 11 cities and towns.

“Whether it’s kids going to school, people heading to work, or traveling to visit friends and family, every community depends on bridges that are safe and built to last,” Gov. Ned Lamont said in a statement. “This grant program provides significant relief to our towns and cities, helping them tackle costly infrastructure projects they couldn’t take on alone.”
