Stonington Man Dies After Boating Incident: PD
He died in a New York State boating incident.

NORTH FORK, NY — A Connecticut man died after he dove off his boat, which was anchored off Plum Island in Long Island Sound, and was unable to make it back, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, a call came in Tuesday at 12:45 p.m.; a woman said her husband, Harold T. Calkins, 63, of Stonington, Conn., dove of off their boat and then got caught in a current.
His wife contacted the United States Coast Guard, which responded and located Calkins, police said.
He was transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Southold detectives and the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating the incident but the matter does not appear to be criminal, police said.
