Stonington Man Sentenced in Domestic Violence Case

The 31-year-old man was convicted in June of assault and strangulation.

A Stonington man convicted in June of assaulting and choking his girlfriend in 2014 has been sentenced to a three-year prison term, according to the New London Day.

William Linder, 31, was sentenced Thursday in New London Superior Court. Judge John Newson stipulated three years of special parole following Linder’s incarceration, including psychiatric evaluations, substance abuse monitoring and 150 hours of community service, the paper reported.

Linder was arrested June 28, 2014 at the apartment he was sharing with his then-girlfriend. The woman told police Linder had knocked her out with a punch to her eye, then choked her with enough force that she could not breathe.
