Stonington Officer's Revolutionary War Diary to be Sold in Auction

STONINGTON, CT- A Revolutionary War army officer from Stonington’s diary will be sold at a New York City auction next week, the Westerly Sun reported.
The short manuscript, titled “First Events of the American War,” is valued between $2,000 and $3,000, according to the Westerly Sun. It was written by Jonathan Palmer (1747-1810), as he reported on local happenings in Stonington and Mystic during the war.
The entries in the diary span 14 months from September 1774 to November 1775, the Westerly Sun reported. It will be auctioned Tuesday, June 28 at the Swann Galleries in New York City.
