Stonington Police Conduct Tobacco, Vape Sales Compliance Checks

Stonington police said four establishments were found to be in violation.

STONINGTON, CT — On Tuesday, the Stonington Police Department and staff members of the Southeastern Regional Action Council (SERAC), conducted unannounced compliance inspections of establishments that sell tobacco and vape products.

Police said the inspections were part of an effort to "determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of the sale of tobacco/vape products, including cigarettes and electronic cigarettes, to youth under the age of eighteen," according to a release.

According to police, an underage youth employed by SERAC entered 12 establishments in Mystic, Stonington and Pawcatuck and attempted to purchase tobacco products.

Establishments found to be in violation, according to police, included:

  • Chuckies Sunoco Gas Station – 60 South Broad Street, Pawcatuck
  • Mystic Mobil – 66 Whitehall Avenue, Mystic
  • Mobil Gas Station – 34 East Main Street, Mystic
  • Stonington Shell - 522 Stonington Road, Stonington

Police said the accused clerks at these establishments were issued a $200 infraction.
