Stonington Police Use License Plate Left at Crash to Track Down DUI Suspect: Report
Though the suspect had fled the scene of a crash, one crucial piece of evidence was left behind.

STONINGTON, CT- After she fled the scene of a crash Saturday, police said they were able to track down a Pawcatuck woman from the license plate attached to the bumper she had left behind, The Day reported.
Police had responded to the scene of a two-car crash close to 11 p.m. Saturday night and found that one vehicle had left the scene, according to The Day. After discovering the car’s bumper that was left behind had a license plate attached to it, police located Courtney Staples, 34, at her house.
Staples was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, evading responsibility and failure to drive right, as reported by The Day. She was given a court date of July 18.
