Stonington School Board Approves Fall Plans

Students will return to school sitting 3 feet apart.

STONINGTON, CT — The Board of Education has approved a plan to reopen schools with students sitting 3 feet apart, The Day reported. The plan will cost the district $543,000 more than originally budgeted.

The extra funds are needed for additional custodians, paraprofessionals, desks, and bus monitors. There will also be clear partitions to ensure social distancing and all students and staff will be required to wear masks.

The board also approved a 180-day school year, two days shorter than originally planned, with school now starting Sept. 8, according to The Day.
