Stonington Student Wins Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest
A Stonington student is among 15 winners in an essay contest honoring Martin Luther King Jr.
STONINGTON, CT â A Stonington student is among 15 winners in an essay contest honoring Martin Luther King Jr. U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy announced the winners, who were chosen from over 2,000 entries from elementary, middle, and high school students from across Connecticut.
Eli Mickus, a student at Deans Mill School in Stonington, was one of the winners.
The students' essays reflected on Dr. Kingâs dream and their own aspirations.

âThe best way to honor Dr. King is to continue his fight for equality and justice," Murphy said in a statement. "Every year, Iâm blown away and inspired by the thoughtful reflections on Dr. Kingâs legacy from students all across Connecticut. Their hope and determination should remind us all that young people are changing the world.â
