Stonington Students Take Issue With Parking Fees

Stonington students are asking that changes be made to their parking fees, which they say is the largest in the area.

STONINGTON, CT — Stonington High School students are taking issue with the $100 fee they must pay to park their cars at school, the Westerly Sun reported. The issue was brought before the Board of Education by the school's Student Government President Madison Geiger.

The Westerly Sun reported Geiger told board members her research showed other area schools either charge students up to $25 for parking or do not charge them.

Officials said the fee was put in place years ago to cover freshmen sports costs, and told Geiger to work with students and administration to asses either how to use the fee in the budget or eliminating it altogether.
