Recent Open House was a Smashing Success
Over 100 Stonington area residents attended the Paddle Tennis Open House at the Stonington Community Center this past Saturday afternoon, October 19. The event was held at the site of the proposed new platform tennis courts where the outline of the courts, warming hut and viewing deck were chalked onto the field adjacent to the COMO Thrift Shop parking lot. Refreshments were served and paddle gear was available for sale. An outdoor jumbo screen was featured with highlights from the American Platform Tennis Nationals Tournament.
Susan Moffet, a North Stonington resident, who used to play on the old wood court behind the COMO that got torn down in the 90's noted that she couldn't wait for the courts to be built. "There is nothing better than playing paddle outside in the middle of winter, meeting new friends and connecting with neighbors."

The courts will be built when all of the funds have been raised. The goal is $300,000. The Paddle Tennis Advisory Group (PTAG) working with the COMO has raised just over half of the money needed.
