Join us for a lively presentation about the diversity of bats found around the globe with special emphasis on bats of Southern New England. Dr. Peter August will present the surprisingly complex annual cycle of our most common bat the little brown bat (Myotis lucifigus) and will update the audience on White Nose Syndrome, the mysterious disease that is decimating bat populations in the Northeastern United States. Peter August is a Professor in the URI Department of Natural Resources Science, where he teaches classes in geographic information systems and landscape ecology. He has studied bats in New England, the Caribbean and South America.
