The Welcome To Mystic Signs Are Back

Workers were recently seen putting the 'Welcome to Mystic' signs on Route 27 and Route 1 back up on their posts.

 

The ‘. On Friday, June 22, 2012, workers restored the signs to the their spots on Route 27 and Route 1 in downtown Mystic.

For those of you that never knew the signs were missing they had been at the being repaired for several months.

The noticed the signs were getting a little beat up and Mystic Chamber President Tricia Cunningham, , and the Mystic Seaport partnered together to restore them.

Stonington sponsored the restoration of one of the signs for $3,000 and the Seaport sponsored the restoration of the other sign.

Fifteen years ago the Mystic Seaport created the 'Welcome to Mystic,' signs that are on the Groton and Stonington sides of Mystic. According to Mystic Seaport Director of Communications Dan McFadden the Seaport reproduced the signs based on historic ones.
