Here is a reading from one of this past week's classes at Westerly Community Yoga Center:
Walk Slowly
Danna Faulds
"It only takes a reminder to breathe, a moment to be still, and just like that, something settles, softens, makes space for imperfection. The harsh voice of judgment drops to a whisper and I remember again that life isn't a relay race; that we will all cross the finish line; that waking up to life is what we were born for. As many times as I forget, catch myself charging forward without even knowing where I am going, that many times I can make the choice to stop, to breathe, and be, and walk slowly into the mystery."
The key to practice is not being perfect, it is making the choice over and over to walk slowly and remember to breathe. This practice is very useful off the mat. It can come as a pause in a stressful situation, finding a soft slow sigh, counting to ten, and gently closing the eyes for a few moments to regain clarity. Pushing the "Reset Button" of life.
As you walk through your days, notice what happens when you pause and remember to breathe. What softens, what settles? Does the voice of judgment drop away? You just might be surprised at what happens is a very short amount of time!!
See you on the mat...
