The public is invited to a reception to welcome Christine M. Johnson, our Library's new Director! Thursday, November 19, 6-7:30p.m.
To welcome Chris to the community, the public is invited to an informal Meet & Greet at the Library (40 Library Street, Mystic, CT) on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. for light refreshments and socializing. All members of our extended Library neighborhood—patrons, civic leaders, business owners, town representatives and government officials-- are encouraged to attend.
Chris joins the Mystic community from the Great Neck (NY) Library, a four-branch Association library with a budget of over $9 million. As Interim Library Director, Chris oversaw the one library system in the district, serving approximately 42,000 residents. She joined the Great Neck Library in 2001 and has worked in all aspects of public service, including Circulation, Children’s Services, Reference, Technical Services, Programming and Administration.
As Interim Director, Chris managed the closing of the library’s 42,000 square foot Main Building for a major, $11 million renovation, including the placement of staff and services into the three remaining branch locations, along with the movement of all non-essential materials and furnishings into Mover’s Storage. In addition to her over 20 years of library experience, Chris has worked for key library technology vendors, Ovid Technologies and Dynix (now SirsiDynix), and has earlier experience in sales and marketing working in both consumer products and the insurance industry.
