Westerly Library Hoxie Gallery Opening

Landscape
artist Ida Schmulowitz will be showing
work from an
ongoing series of landscapes painted outside on a large scale (72”x 96”) from
two locations in Providence, the pedestrian bridge at the end of East Street,
and behind the Vartan Gregorian Elementary School.

The
artist has painted landscapes outside from a pedestrian bridge overlooking a
highway since 1983. She states that she feels a very strong bond to this
particular place (India Point), and has felt compelled to record it year after
year in all seasons and times of the day. Changes in the landscape itself, or
shifting her vantage point just slightly, are the catalysts for creating a new
series.
