Winter Storm Targets Stonington-Mystic: Latest Forecast, Cancellations, How To Prepare

The incoming storm is expected to dump significant snow and create travel havoc throughout the region.

STONINGTON, CT — A winter storm expected to move through Connecticut late Sunday into Monday could bring significant snowfall to Stonington, prompting town officials to urge residents to prepare now and follow parking and travel rules once the storm begins.

Forecasters say snow totals have increased in recent projections, with coastal and southeastern Connecticut seeing 8 inches to more than a foot of snow, depending on the storm’s final track.

Town officials said Stonington is preparing for the storm and reminding residents to take steps now to reduce hazards and help crews clear roads efficiently.

What To Expect

Parking Bans and Enforcement

Town officials reminded residents that snow parking bans will be enforced when two inches or more of snow has fallen and will remain in effect until plowing operations are complete. Vehicles in violation may be ticketed or towed.

In Stonington Borough, after two inches of snow has fallen and until plowing operations are completed, parking is prohibited on Water Street and on alternate sides of Main Street and Elm Street. On even-numbered days, parking is allowed on the side of the street with even-numbered addresses; on odd-numbered days, parking is allowed on the side with odd-numbered addresses.
Police also noted that vehicles left in roadways from previous storms will be tagged for removal ahead of this event.
