Witnesses Report Downed Kitesurfer in Stonington, Find Bunch of Balloons
Emergency crews proceeded to dispatch in boats to rescue the alleged victim.
STONINGTON, CT - Witnesses reported seeing a kitesurfer go down into the water off Stonington Point on Saturday afternoon, according to The Day.
The incident was reported close to 12:30 p.m., prompting the response of Stonington police and firefighters, The Day reported. Teams proceeded to dispatch in boats to rescue the alleged victim.
Responders later discovered there was in fact no kitesurfer, and witnesses had instead seen a large collection of birthday balloons fall into the water, according to The Day.
