Woman Charged In North Stonington Wreck That Injured 5: Police
A woman was charged with DWI in a wreck that injured five last Halloween, according to police.
NORTH STONINGTON, CT — A woman has been charged with drunk driving in connection with a serious injury wreck in North Stonington last Halloween night, according to state police. Mackenzie Balicki, 26, was charged with DWI with child passenger, failure to drive in proper lane, safety belt violation child, second-degree assault with motor vehicle, and three counts of third-degree assault.
Police responded to a report of a wreck on Pendleton Hill Road in North Stonington that sent five to the hospital the evening of Oct. 31. The crash injured a 4-year-old, a 5-year-old, a 65-year-old, a 78-year-old, and Balicki.
Police said it was determined that Balicki, driving a Honda Civic, failed to maintain her lane and crossed over the double yellow lines, crashing into a Nissan Frontier occupied by a 78-year-old and a 65-year old. Balicki's Civic was carrying two children who were injured.

Police said Balicki was discovered to have been intoxicated and that her blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash was three times the legal limit of .08. The state Department of Children and Families was notified of the crash.
Balicki's bond was set at $150,000.
