YMCA Receives $1 Million Donation, To Be Renamed After Generous Mystic Family
The Ocean Community YMCA will be renamed after a local family after receiving a donation of $1 million.
MYSTIC, CT - The Ocean Community YMCA recently received a large donation from a Mystic family, according to the New London Day. Out of appreciation, the YMCA Board of Directors has decided to rename the Mystic branch after the generous family.
Sekhar and Archana Naik had previously agreed in May to donate $800,000 towards the Mystic branch's renovation and expansion project, the New London Day reported. They had also agreed to donate an additional $200,000 if the YMCA matched that amount in donations by August. YMCA officials said they were able to collect an additional $225,000 from 103 donors, according to the New London Day. The branch will be renamed the Naik Family YMCA out of appreciation of their $1 million donation.
