MYSTIC, CT — The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is excited for the return of YogaPalooza, a celebration of International Day of Yoga. In collaboration with UConn Avery Point, the event will once again take place with the gorgeous backdrop of Long Island Sound at the mouth of the Thames at the Branford House on the UConn Avery Point Campus.

"Yoga Palooza embodies the spirit of unity and wellness, celebrating the International Day of Yoga with our vibrant community outside in nature. It's such a joyous occasion where individuals come together to embrace the transformative power of all things yoga, including sound bath, breathwork, kirtan, and philosophy. What I love most about this day is being in the same place with all the remarkable teachers who come to share their wisdom with us from Connecticut and Rhode Island and this year, all the way from Hawaii. My heart is happy thinking about all the hugs on June 20th." - Annie Chapman of Earth Annie Yoga & Trainings; Creator, Founder and Committee Chair of Yoga Palooza.

Since 2015, International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually in June since its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Originated from India, yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice. The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in his UN address in 2014, had suggested the date in June as it is the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world.

“This is the perfect opportunity to take a mid-week break and welcome summer. The Chamber is committed to supporting the local community and this event not only showcases the UConn Avery Point campus and Groton City, but also, over 24 local instructors and their studios,” said Bruce Flax, President of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce
