2 Charged After Cops Find Heroin, Weapons At Home: Stratford PD
Detectives found over 1 kilogram of heroin, hundreds of Oxycodone pills, pounds of marijuana and more during a search, according to police.

STRATFORD, CT — Law enforcement found more than a kilogram of heroin, thousands of dollars and much more while searching an area home Tuesday, according to a police department news release.
The incident, which was the culmination of an investigation conducted by the Stratford Narcotics and Vice Unit into drug and gun crimes in Stratford and Fairfield County, resulted in multiple charges against Kevin Tobar, 23, and Jonathan Matos, 28, the news release said.
The narcotics unit, with help from the Bridgeport Police Task Force and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, executed the warrant, according to the news release, which said Tobar and his associates were distributing large amounts of heroin, marijuana and THC vape pens.

Tobar and Matos were taken into custody without incident, the news release said. While searching the residence, police found more than 1 kilogram of heroin, several hundred Oxycodone pills, numerous pounds of marijuana packaged for sale, a stolen gun loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, a ballistic vest and several thousand dollars in cash, according to the news release. Detectives also located items to process, mix and package heroin, the news release said.

Tobar and Matos were each charged with operating a drug factory, possession with intent to sell heroin, possession with intent to sell narcotics, possession with intent to sell more than 1 kilogram of marijuana, possession of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine and illegal transfer of a firearm, according to the news release. The two were each issued a $500,000 bond and were set to appear in court Wednesday. Tobar is also charged in several pending narcotics cases, the news release said.
