Woman, 27, Murdered In Stratford Double Shooting, Male Victim In Critical Condition: UPDATE

The victims are both in their 20s, police said. Police are searching for the person(s) responsible.

STRATFORD, CT — A 27-year-old woman has died as a result of injuries sustained in an early morning shooting Sunday, and a 24-year-old man is listed in critical condition, Stratford police said Sunday afternoon. Police are searching for the person(s) responsible for the murder.

UPDATE: Victim Identified In Fatal Shooting In Stratford

Shortly after midnight Sunday a shooting occurred on the street in front of 1854 North Avenue, police said. The shooting followed what appeared to be a verbal argument, police said. One 27 year-old female victim was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital, police said. A 24 year-old male victim is listed as critical as the result of a gun shot wound, police said. The incident is still under investigation and police are trying to identify the shooter(s).

"The shooting is an isolated incident and there is nor further danger at the scene. North Avenue was closed for several hours as a result of the shooting and subsequent investigation," police said in a news release.

The investigation is ongoing. "The shooting incident on North Avenue is an isolated incident. There is no ongoing threat to the community," police said.
