2 Taken To Hospital After Stratford House Fire: Chief
One of the victims suffered possibly life-threatening smoke inhalation, according to the Stratford fire chief.
STRATFORD, CT — Two people suffered from smoke inhalation, which for one of the victims could be life threatening, after a fire early Thursday morning at their Stratford home.
Firefighters responded at 4:49 a.m. to an alarm for a house on Karen Avenue, according to Stratford Fire Chief Brian Lampart, who said the fire was contained to a couch in the living room and likely related to a cigarette.
The home's two occupants, both adults, were taken to Bridgeport Hospital for smoke inhalation, Lampart said, with one of the cases being potentially life threatening.

Fire damage in the house was minimal, but the structure was damaged by smoke, according to Lampart. The fire department controlled the blaze within 15 minutes, he said, and no firefighters were injured.
"Fire damage is really contained to a small part of one room," Lampart said. "... It went out real quick."
