4 Children In Danger During Shooting At Stratford Hotel: Police

A bullet traveled through the walls in three rooms at the hotel, in one case nearly striking four children, police said.

STRATFORD, CT — A man and woman are charged in connection with a shooting that sent a bullet through multiple walls, almost hitting a group of children, Wednesday at a Stratford hotel, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting just before midnight at Quality Suites, 1500 South Ave., according to a news release from Stratford police. The bullet had traveled through the walls in three rooms, in one case nearly striking four children, police said. Investigating officers recovered an SKS 7.62-millimeter rifle, a 0.45-caliber handgun, about $11,000 in cash and narcotics, according to police.

Jerrod Goodman and Alize Tyler were taken into custody and charged, police said. Goodman, 40, of New Haven, was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm, four counts of risk of injury to a minor, criminal possession of an electronic defense weapon, and carrying a firearm without a permit. Tyler was charged with having a weapon in a vehicle, interfering with an officer and hindering prosecution. Further charges are pending, according to police.

Goodman’s bond was set at $100,000 and Tyler’s was set at $25,000, police said. Both will appear in court Aug. 21.
