A new bar and grill on Ferry Blvd that provides good food and drink.

When out on a power walk several days ago I came across the Off the Hook Bar and Grill at 170 Ferry Blvd.

Opened about a year ago the building which it is in, has a round shape and is set a litle off of the Ferry Blvd.

It is small, but the seafood and the drinks were both of a price that makes it worth stopping in.

Rick, not of movie fame, was behind the bar and was more than willing to talk about Off the Hook.

Owned by two brothers, the grill does a menu of appetizers, sandwiches, platters and pizza that for the most part deals with seafood.

The appetizers run the list of what can be found under the sea.

Prices range from $8 to $12 dollars and include scallops, mussels, oysters, little necks, steamers, clams and belive it or not the usual chicken wings.

They also have a sandwich selection of steak, roast beef, corned beef, hamburgers and hot dogs.

I tried the lobster roll sandwich and found it was a happy event.

For $12 I got a half a loaf of homemade bread, rather than the traditional hot dog roll.

The bread, excellant by the way, was stuffed with a good amount of lobster with butter. Fries, cole slaw and a pickle came on the side.

The food gets made in front of you. The kitchen is that close to the bar.

Pizza is another favoriate of the patrons.

The place has extensive menu and from what I saw the size and toppings were of a good portion.

Off the Hook is not fine dinning.

Its paper plates, lots of napkins and paper menus.

The drink prices are good and there is a small selection of craft beers available.

Happy hour runs from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and according to Rick it is a seven day a week happy hour.

For members of the town's emergency services there is also a special deal.

There is also an out door dinning area with a small bar and tables that are far enought off the road to keep the car fumes away while catching a breeze from Long Island Sound and the river.

To my way of thinking, its a good place to stop and try out.
