STRATFORD, CT — A restaurant featuring burgers, hot dogs, and more is coming soon to the former iconic Danny’s Drive-In location in Stratford, according to The Connecticut Scoop.
The Connecticut Scoop reports the Great American Street Food Company, also known as Gasfco, is opening in the space at 940 Ferry Boulevard in Stratford.
Gasfco also has locations in North Branford and Southington.
“At GASFCO, there's something for everyone!” reads a post on Gasfco’s Facebook page. “Whether you're in the mood for a juicy burger, flavorful tacos, a fresh salad, crispy seafood, a mouthwatering chicken sandwich, or a perfectly made shawarma, we've got your next meal waiting.”
Danny’s Drive-In originally opened in 1935 as a three-season hamburger stand with a flip-up façade until President Dwight Eisenhower ordered the construction of an interstate highway system in the U.S., according to the history on the restaurant’s former website. The operation moved out of the way of the forthcoming I-95, and opened on Ferry Boulevard in 1952.
Danny’s Drive-In closed for good in 2022.
Bagel Boutique closed earlier this year after three years in the former Danny’s Drive-In space.
