From ancient Mesopotamia to the modern day, the “Jewish Women Throughout the Ages Fashion Show” is a remarkable journey through Jewish femininity, costume and culture. It leads the audience on a memorable tour across the landscape of Jewish history, portraying the great female personalities who have contributed to Jewish survival and identity. Created by New York artist, M. Hurwitz, the show has been presented by local Jewish communities world wide; Panama City, Milan, Beijing, Buenos Aires, Helsinki, New York, Johannesburg and Paris. Produced locally by Dede Jacobs Komisar from the Yale School of Drama, the show is now coming to New Haven featuring a brilliant local cast of models and performers. Each heroine’s story will be brought to life - in words and imagery, song and dance – as they walk the runway costumed and bejeweled in intricate attire from each character’s era. In an unforgettable exhibition of story-telling and elite pageantry, the Matriarch Sarah, Moabite Princess Ruth, Donna Gracia, Hannah Szenes and others will come to life and share their greatest challenges and triumphs. The show will culminate with a celebration of today’s Jewish woman and a fashion show modeling modern designer looks and chic couture. Handpicked and crafted colors and fabrics, set forth from inspirations all over the world, will exist in an event exposé of fashion, culture, and historical brilliance.
