Baseball Camp Has Successful Week

The Stratford REC/Stratford PAL Coach Buck's Baseball Camp concluded a very successful week on Friday, July 21 as over 50 camp participants of all ages from Stratford and surrounding communities spent three hours each morning playing, practicing, and learning baseball at Penders Field.

Stratford High's Coach Mick Buckmir led the week-long volunteering effort that also included tremendous assistance and service from his assistant coaches Skip Lance and Jim Sarantides as well as over 15 current Stratford High baseball players.

In addition, the spirited camp featured additional direction and support from plenty of staff and counselors from the Stratford Recreation Department, a good number of Stratford police officers representing the Stratford PAL, and special guest-instructor appearances by Darien High School's Head Baseball Coach Mike Scott and current Quinnipiac University outfielder and former Stratford High great and graduate Braydon Seaburg.

Campers from Pee-Wees (Ages 6-8), Intermediates (Ages 9-12), and Seniors (Ages 12-14) all had fun, showed plenty of playing progress throughout the week, and were nicely treated by daily water coolers and a Friday ice cream wrap-up by the Stratford PAL. Camp t-shirts also went out to all campers, volunteers, and staff.

The Stratford High players that took part in the volunteering effort included Ty Owen, Zach Rider, Braden Tiberio, Damon Weller, Jake Haddad, Ethan Hill, Nate Marshall, Christian Ramirez, Nate Barbee, Tylor Bonaventura, Cody Gallant, Elijah Jimenez, Xavier Lendof, Carter Ormsbee, Max Owen, Josh Tiberio, and Evan Wendland.
