Boat With 8 On Board Hits Sandbar, Causing Minor Injuries
Low tide led to the boat hitting the sandbar.
STRATFORD, CT — There were minor injuries Friday when a boat hit a sandbar on the Housatonic River, according to a Stratford fire official.
The incident occurred 7:15 p.m. on the river, north of the Interstate 95 bridge, Assistant Chief Doug Reitmeyer said. Low tide caused the boat, which was carrying eight people, to hit the sandbar. Injuries were limited to cuts and bruises.
Fire department vessels from Milford and Shelton assisted Stratford’s agency in responding to the incident.
