Library 101: Job Search Help

If you are looking for a job, Stratford Library has resources that can help with your job search and improve your skills.

Career Center: Reserve one of 3 PCs for a two hour time slot once a day. Available for job searching, online job applications, setting up a job related email account or taking online exams for career advancement. Librarians are available to assist you with your questions.

Career Coach: Next visit:Monday, May 20th. Doors on the bus open at 10 am. The Career Coach bus visits the Library once a month. The library has partnered with CT Works office in Bridgeport to bring this mobile job search/resume assistance to Stratford. Step inside to find 10 computers and a CT Works staff member available to help. Scanner: If you have an old resume on paper but need an electronic version, use the library scanner to convert it to a Microsoft Word document that you can edit and update. You can also print and email directly from the scanner. Librarians are happy to show you how to use the scanner.

Books: You can find a plethora of very helpful books on resume and cover letter writing for all kinds of jobs, interview skills, networking and career options. You can find ebooks at www.stratfordlibrary.org.

Testing & Education Reference Center: Find it at www.stratfordlibrary.org.This database features over 300 up-to-date practice tests: N-CLEX RN & PN, ASVAB Military, GRE, ASE Automotive, Praxis I, Clerical, Real Estate and many more. There are also downloadable exam study books and Basic Computer Skills Classes featuring Microsoft Office.
