New Local Program & Non-Profit Help CT Consumers Find Energy-Efficient Products and Money-Saving Rebates

Quick: When you're in the market for an appliance or electronic device, how can you find the ones that use the least energy? We've got the answer - that's just for CT residents.

Quick: When you’re in the market for an appliance or electronic device, how can you find the ones that use the least energy? Until recently, the answer to that question was anything but quick. But thanks to Energize Connecticut and the nonprofit rating organization TopTen USA, Connecticut residents now have access to a website that can help them make informed sources about energy-efficient consumer products in their local market, plus find rebates to offset the costs of those appliances and electronics.

TopTen USA has partnered with Energize CT to launch www.toptenusa.org/ct, where consumers can find the top 10 most energy-efficient appliances across 18 product categories, from laptops and dishwashers to refrigerators and hot water heaters. They can also then find the local retailers that carry those items and see what rebates are available (include Sandy specific incentives through the end of the year).

In this time of storm recovery and the coming holidays, CT families can use the site to research the most economical and energy-efficient solutions to their home needs and get independent and unbiased results.

Listings are complete with product and pricing descriptions and information on how the list was compiled. Featured product categories include small, medium and large-size TVs; large and small computer monitors; laptop and non-expandable desktop computers; refrigerators of all sizes; freezers; dishwashers; clothes washers, hot water heaters and more.

Visitors to toptenusa.org/ct can also find the approximate savings they can realize over time by purchasing products on the list, the rebates and incentives currently available, and quality reviews of TopTen-rated items posted by those who have used them. While energy efficiency is the key factor on which all TopTen USA ratings are based, product evaluations also include other environmental impacts, as well as health and safety considerations.
