Stratford's Plan of Conservation and Development

Since my election to the Planning Commission I have advocated for the development of Stratford in those areas that were formerly occupied by the manufacturing sector and now sit vacant as brown fields.

These properties have been empty for over 25 years and it's time for a serious discussion to encourage redevelopment. I feel it is important that we transition these properties in ways that will benefit the town.

On March 6, 2013 the Planning Commission conducted a workshop that was open to the public and drew approximately 35 participants. This workshop was part of an information gathering process to develop Stratford's Plan of Conservation and Development which will define where Stratford should focus for improvement and growth over the next ten years.

I was excited to observe that the Army Engine Plant and the Shakespeare Theatre were by far the top two areas mentioned for growth and development.

At the same time, I was slightly disappointed that more people did not come out to be heard. Therefore, I am using this platform to enable anyone interested in Stratford's future growth to express their support of the two mentioned areas for improvement and also to identify any other area that they would also consider as a top choice.
