Wine Boutique Kicks Off Art Appreciation Series

One-woman show at Wine Maker's Boutique kicks off Art Appreciation series to celebrate art in Stratford, and the art of making wine.

To celebrate the art of making wine, the Wine Maker's Boutique is hosting a series of Art Appreciation events at their shop on Friday, April 26 from Noon to 8 p.m.

The first artist featured in the event is Stratford Arts Guild's Melissa Benson, featuring her mythic imagery in a one-womanart show at the shop at 2505 Main St, Stationhouse Square, in Stratford, CT.

To help kick-off the Art Appreciation events, samples of both red and white wine made at the shop, will be on hand along with carefully selected nibbles designed to make your experience of viewing, appreciating and tasting art, enjoyable and unforgettable.

The event and the initial tasting is free. Each person will receive a free sample of the Wine Marker's Boutique's white and red "wines of the month". If anyone wants additional tasting (two red, two white and one sweet or dessert wine) the cost is $6 per person.

Benson will have original works on display, including "Holly King and Oak King." This is the original piece artist contributed to "The Gathering", a book created by the early artists of the popular collectible card game Magic: the Gathering. The orginal artists are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the game this August.

The Wine Maker's Boutique, owned and operated by Stratford Arts Guild member Bill Alletzhauser, is a unique small commercial business in Stratford that offers customers the opportunity to make their own custom wine -- from grape to label.

Customers purchase a wine kit of their choice selected from a variety of grape juice and juice concentrate from all over the world. The Boutique provides the tools, space and expertise to convert the wine kit into wine. Each kit makes between 28 and 30 bottles provided by the Boutique along with all the necessary corks, foils and custom labels designed by the customer. Customers pitch the yeast and bottle the wine themselves; the staff monitors the progress during fermentation, advises the customer when it is time to bottle, and does the clean up.

For more information about the event or wine making, call Bill at (203) 923-8982.
