Company Pays $200 Fine For Billboards Against Stratford Candidate

STRATFORD, CT — A company has agreed to pay a $200 fine for violating election law in connection with rented billboards and a series of scathing Facebook posts targeting Rich Fredette during his bid for re-election to Stratford’s Zoning Commission, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports the State Elections Enforcement Commission, however, found no evidence that the group, The Stratford Beacon, coordinated its actions with local Democrats – drawing the ire of town Republican Chairman Lou DeCilio, who filed the complaint.

One of the billboards depicted Fredette, who was chairman of the Zoning Commission, as Freddy Krueger, according to the Post.
